Why are electrolytes so important?
Electrolytes are essential for all important body functions. Normally we get our electrolytes with food and drink.
But when we fast for a long period of time - going without any sources of electrolytes - we experience electrolyte depletion and the many negative symptoms that come with it:
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Mental fog
- Muscle cramps
- Bloating and indigestion after Iftar
The right nutritional supplements can address these issues and make your fasting experience easier, so that you can focus on what's important.
How to Take Fasting Supplements
At Suhoor
- Take 3 capsules of Fasting Salts Capsules OR 0.5 scoop of Fasting Salts Powder.
- You don't need to take both, just pick the one that's most convenient.
At Iftar
- Take 1-2 capsules of Fasting Refeed.
- If you are still experiencing symptoms of electrolyte deficiency (headaches, muscle cramps, dizziness), take a small dosage of Fasting Salts (1 capsule or 0.3 scoop).
When to Take Your Supplements

Fasting Salts - Capsules
Take 3 capsules with a large glass of water (300-500ml) with or just before your Suhoor meal.

Fasting Salts - Powder
Take 0.5 scoop of the salt with a large glass of water (300-500ml) with or just before your Suhoor meal.

Fasting Refeed
Take 1 capsule with your Iftar meal to support your digestive metabolism.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need to take both Fasting Salts powder and capsules?
No, you just need to take one of them - either powder or capsules. It's the same product in different formats.
Powder can be mixed with water, added to smoothies and dairy drinks, or sprinkled on food.
Capsules are useful on the go if you just need to take them quickly, or if you don't like the taste of salty water.
For both options, it's extremely important to drink a lot of water (500ml min) when you take them.
How long will the bundle last?
The bundle quantity is more than sufficient to last for the whole of Ramadan and beyond.
The shelf life is several years so you could also use it for Ramadan next year or whenever you practice fasting.
You could also share these products with your friends and family to make their fasting easier too!
Is Nutri-Align a Muslim company?
No, we are not a Muslim company. Our fasting products were originally designed for people who practice fasting for weight loss purposes or as a healthy lifestyle choice.
However, over the last five years many Muslim customers started using our products as part of their religious fasting practice.
This was an unexpected but a very welcome development! So we made an effort to learn about this new area.
We asked for feedback from our Muslim customers and consulted with experts on how to best serve their needs.
Our fasting supplements are Halal-certified by the Halal Trust of the United Kingdom. Our products have also been tested by an independent third-party lab in Dubai to confirm there are no porcine traces.
Do supplements interfere with spiritual aspects of Ramadan?
We consulted Islamic scholars about this question.
Taking electrolyte supplements or any other supplements before you start your fast is openly allowed in Islam. Muslims are only forbidden to consume things during their fasts.
The basic goal of fasting – to be aware of the fact that God is everywhere - does not get compromised by making your fast easier. In fact, you will have more energy and focus for your prayers and contemplation if not constantly distracted by deficiency symptoms.
You can always talk to the scholar closest to you, or anyone with enough Islamic training will be able to guide you and answer all your worries regarding making fasting easier.
